Trump is Not Ruling Out a U.S. Military Strike Against Iran

According to sources cited by The Wall Street Journal and Axios, U.S. President Donald Trump privately authorized plans for a military strike against Iran on Tuesday night. However, he refrained from issuing the final order, opting to wait for Tehran to abandon its nuclear program. This decision came shortly after Trump abruptly left the G7 summit, signaling a shift toward a more aggressive stance.

Despite the private approval, Trump’s public statements remained ambiguous. When asked about joining Israeli attacks on Iran, he said, “I can do it. I can not do it,” reflecting uncertainty or strategic ambiguity. Trump also demanded “unconditional surrender” from Iran, underscoring his administration’s hardline position.

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth affirmed before the U.S. Senate that the Pentagon “is ready to execute” any orders concerning Iran, highlighting the seriousness of the threat.

Since Israel launched an unprovoked attack on Iranian territory on June 13, both countries have exchanged bombardments, escalating violence in the region. Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi accused Israel of attempting to undermine ongoing peaceful nuclear negotiations between Iran and the U.S., which were scheduled to resume in Muscat, Oman.

Araghchi reiterated Iran’s peaceful intentions regarding its nuclear program, a position supported by the International Atomic Energy Agency’s Director General Rafael Grossi, who confirmed no evidence of nuclear weapons development by Tehran.

Russia, China, and numerous countries worldwide have condemned Israel’s offensive as a serious violation of international law and the United Nations Charter. The attacks have raised global concerns about destabilizing the already volatile Middle East region.

Amid these tensions, calls for restraint and renewed diplomatic efforts have intensified. The international community faces mounting pressure to prevent further escalation and to prioritize dialogue over military confrontation.
